Advancing Social Impact through Learning and Action

Last month, we initiated a series of shared learning webinars, commencing with a session on Challenging Funding Norms for Social Impact. This endeavour, deeply rooted in our commitment to data-driven and experiential leadership, was enriched by the invaluable insights from the Untapped Talent research, a testament to our collective dedication to advancing social impact.

As someone who has overcome numerous barriers to achieve my goals, I am passionate about sharing knowledge and driving actionable change. Tomorrow, I'll be in Glasgow delivering an Antiracism Active Learning session for the Board of Trustees of one of my clients. This is a critical opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and advance our journey toward a fairer society.

One significant challenge we’ve encountered is the extractivism of intellectual knowledge. I have often witnessed organisations seeking my insights only to repackage and sell them back to me. As a Black woman in business, I’ve experienced this numerous times, leading me to cease 'pick my brain' conversations that yield no progress. I was often sold on the idea that if I didn’t have this conversation, who would? How will they know if I don’t let them pick my brain?

Well, lessons have been learnt. I am determined to facilitate shared learning opportunities that provide practical steps for implementation and action, ensuring that knowledge translates into tangible, real-world outcomes.

While I juggle multiple roles, they all converge on a shared mission to promote fairness and inclusivity. To truly advance these principles, we must engage in challenging conversations and take deliberate actions. Today, my work is dedicated to pushing these boundaries and creating spaces where everyone can thrive.
