Scotland Changemakers
Being part of the Scotland Changemakers community, supported by The Hunters Foundation, has taught me that true social transformation happens when people with lived experience come together with shared purpose and determination.
Let’s Talk About Funding Equity: Beyond the Buzzwords
The people deciding funding allocations must be represented by individuals with diverse experiences, thoughts, and backgrounds.
This ensures that decision-making is inclusive and reflective of the communities being served. Without this diversity of perspective, funding risks being allocated based on biases or limited understanding of the true needs and barriers faced by under-represented groups
Even as I write this, I know that a single post cannot capture all the nuances. I would have made this into a video if I wasn't nursing a cold. However, as an advocate for equity, I struggle to ignore opportunities to encourage funders to move beyond token gestures and ensure funding truly supports the diversity it claims to champion.
2025 DEIB and Antiracism Trends: A Guide for the Brave & Bold
In the UK, we are not immune. Though we may experience this shift in more insidious ways at first, history shows us that divisive attitudes can infiltrate society slowly and subtly. This “drip, drip” effect can erode the very foundation of inclusivity if we’re not vigilant.
Price Like a Pro
Alongside this guide, I’m excited to introduce the pRESPECT VP and Rate Calculator, a tool my team specifically created to take the stress out of pricing. We've been where you are—unsure how to price services in a way that reflects our expertise while still feeling fair. This calculator simplifies the process so you can focus on delivering the incredible value you’re known for.
A Call for Fair Compensation Support Black Women and All Professionals in DEI and Antiracism
But I also want to be transparent—bringing this work to life has had its challenges. While there is a growing recognition of the need to address issues of racism and equity, getting organisations to invest in these initiatives can be difficult. I’ve often been asked to provide my expertise for free, which, as much as I’m passionate about this work, is not sustainable. Just as you would never expect a professional like a plumber to solve your problem without fair compensation, those of us who work in the DEI space deserve the same respect for our skills and time.
#DoSomething
It’s time to rethink how we support women entrepreneurs and take meaningful steps forward. From simplifying the application process to collaborating with larger investors, funding bodies must act now. Women deserve more than crumbs. They deserve real, accessible, and impactful investments that genuinely support their potential. Let’s commit to #DoSomething and make funding inclusive and effective for all women founders.

Standing Against Racism and Islamophobia: 4 Steps to a More Inclusive Environment
This weekend was heartbreaking and scary for parts of our cities in the UK. The media, partly responsible, called it a protest or riot instead of what it was: a small, well-planned act of targeted racism and Islamophobia. We can't challenge it if we don't call it what it is. Use these four steps to support your staff and community impacted by the riots.
Supporting Our Muslim and South Asian Communities: A Call to Action
This month is South Asian Heritage Month, and the theme is #FreeToBeMe. As we can see from recent events, our friends, colleagues, neighbours, and broader South Asian communities are not free to be themselves for fear of unprovoked attacks. It is more crucial than ever to stand in solidarity with these communities and work towards creating a society where everyone can be free to be themselves.
Price of Bravery
In 2022, our organisation conducted an in-depth research study to explore how we and the broader employability services in Scotland could enhance our approach to supporting Black, Asian and Multi-Ethnic communities and individuals.
The findings were clear and thought-provoking: to truly challenge the status quo and drive meaningful change, we needed to stop accessing traditional funding due to its restrictive nature and lack of alignment with our mission.
Disclaimer: I Don’t Work for Free
As a Black woman in business, I constantly face the frustrating reality of ‘exposure’ payment requests. These often come from organisations that claim to champion gender equality and racial equity. It's disheartening to see these organisations we (collective we) support in their efforts to dismantle inequality, turn around and ask for my expertise without fair compensation.
Open letter:
As an advocate and transformation consultant for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI), Antiracism, and Social Justice, I was particularly pleased to hear Anas Sarwar’s commitment to creating a united immigration system. Watching the Sunday Show, it was heartening to listen to the discussions about the need for a unique immigration system tailored to Scotland’s needs. However, there remains uncertainty about the specifics of Labour’s mandate. I will keep a keen eye on it as the party settles into its role.
Breaking Barriers: The Critical Role of Terminology in Fostering Inclusivity and Understanding
The development of this guide was inspired by many conversations I have had over the past couple of years while delivering antiracism and allyship programmes and sessions. With the very obvious pushback in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts, I felt it was important to dive deeper into the history and context of terminologies over time and give people a tool they can use when unsure how to lead and guide conversations around race and ethnicity in the workplace.
Advancing Social Impact through Learning and Action
Day of Impact: Voices, Visions, and Vital Conversations in Glasgow
I had the honour of contributing to two profoundly impactful events. My journey began at the Scottish Growth Summit. I was privileged to share the stage with a panel of phenomenal women in business and entrepreneurship: Mhairi Duncan, Professor Eleanor Shaw OBE, Sheila Hogan, and Alice Thompson. Reflection on inclusive events, voices, vision and the power of women support women to thrive.

Creating Safe Spaces for Black Women in the Workplace
Again, what safeguards are in place for Black professionals, particularly women, who are often asked to shoulder the responsibility of advocating for DEI in the workplace and are instantly left to weather the storm alone at the turning point?
Embracing Consistent Allyship: A Call to Action in Light of LinkedIn's Trust and Safety Moderation Failure
The recent incident involving Dana Brownlee on LinkedIn, where she faced blatant racism and received inadequate support from the platform's Trust and Safety team, has brought to light a critical issue in our professional and online communities. As an antiracism educator and career development coach, I believe this is a pivotal moment to discuss the importance of consistent and committed allyship in combating systemic racism, especially in professional environments, particularly when such experiences and lack of support are vividly exposed.
